While Buc-ee’s may not be a truck stop in truth, it’s still worth the visit if you’re not driving a full-on 18-wheeler. This huge rest stop was recently named the best rest stop in Houston and boasts the cleanest bathrooms in Texas.
The giant stop has over 35 stores, selling everything from gourmet jerky, candy, and BBQ to freshly made fudge. The staff is friendly and customer-focused, which is rare in the truck stop world. The stop also has plenty of gas pumps for standard trucks, though none for larger 18-wheelers.
It may not be a stop all truckers will appreciate, but it’s an experience worth checking out at least once if you’re in the Houston area.

Star Stop is a national chain of convenience stores and fuel stations. Since it’s a chain, you know exactly what you get from every stop, no matter where you are. Start Stop accepts credit cards and has useful extra amenities like a car wash. One thing we like about the Star Shop in Houston is that it offers takeout, so it’s the perfect stop if you don’t want an extended stay.

The popular image of truck stops as grubby places filled with lot lizards and sad staff doesn’t have to be true. Many Houston truck stops offer great amenities and are clean and pleasant to stay at for a couple of hours. Most offer plenty of parking space for trucks of any size, and many offer extra features such as laundry services and showers to get you ready for the next stage of your journey.
