What Information Should I Gather at the Scene of the Car Accident?

The first thing you want to do after a car accident: Get out of the car and go find out the insurance information of the person that hits you. It’s required under the law we’re going to need that in connection with your claim. Then, take out your cell phone and take some pictures of the the cars. Don’t get up too close, a lot of people get up too close, and you can’t really tell what’s going on. Get back away so that you can look at the cars, where they’re positioned, and then you want to go ask the person that hit you, “How did this happen?” in a non-threatening way and find out what their story is, then go sit down and wait for the police officer to come.
