Fatality From Crashing into Telephone Pole
The best Houston auto crash law firms are always saddened when drivers meet their own demise in a car accident—especially one that was preventable and avoidable. Driving too fast is an experienced reasons that car accidents occur. The faster the vehicle travels, the less easy it is to control the vehicle, and the less time you have to react if something does happen. This is why legal speed limits are posted: as annoying as they may seem at times, the posted speed limits are there to protect everyone on the road.
Early Sunday morning, a man died after crashing his Mercedes into a telephone pole. The accident took place in North Houston, at the intersection of East Hardy and Tidwell at about 4 a.m.
According to police, the man was driving at a high rate of speed when his car veered off the road and hit a fire hydrant. This caused the car to go airborne, and then slam into a telephone pole. The impact of the car split the wood telephone pole in two, and knocked out power in the immediate area. The driver was taken to a local hospital where he later died. No other cars or pedestrians were injured in the accident. The victims name has not yet been released and it is unknown whether alcohol consumption was a factor in the accident.
Like wearing a seat belt, following the legal speed limit is one of the ways to stay safe while you are driving. The speed limits are not just posted for you—you may be an excellent driver and able to handle you car well when traveling over the posted speed limit. But not all people are good drivers, and the speed limit laws were put into effect to protect all motorists on the road. If you speed, it not only puts you in danger, but it places other drivers on the road in danger, in case you lose control of your vehicle. In this case, it is lucky that no other drivers, passengers or pedestrians were caught up in the accident, but all accident cases do not turn out so well.
